As Disciples of Christ, we seek to be “hands-on” in ministering to our community and to the world.

Each of you as a good manager should use the gift that God has given you to serve others. 1 Peter 4:10

There are a variety of ways to serve in our church; teaching a Sunday School class, serving on committees, and helping to serve in worship. Check out the latest serving schedule here.

Part of our Christian discipleship inspires us to share the love of God with our community. We are involved in a number of organizations, service projects, and mission efforts to be the hands and feet of Christ to Blacksburg and the New River Valley. Here are just a couple of our long term community projects that we work with.

Micah's Backpack

The Micah’s Backpack Program provides weekend meals to close to 300 at-risk children in 10 Blacksburg schools.  A group of us join almost 100 others every Thursday evening from 6-7pm at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church to pack backpacks with meals.  Throughout the year, we collect food donations for the program.  To volunteer go to or contact Sandy Graham at

Interfaith Food Pantry

The Interfaith Food Pantry is a joint ministry of over 25 Blacksburg area churches.  It is staffed entirely by volunteers.  A group from our church serves on the first Tuesday of every month from 10am – noon.  To volunteer go to or contact Sandy Graham at

Craig Springs Camp and Retreat Center

As a church family, we have adopted 2 cabins at Craig Springs Camp and Retreat Center which we are working to renovate extensively.  This will be a multi-year renovation that will need many hands! To volunteer contact Gary at

We believe that as a local congregation we can make a big difference both in our community and around the world. We partner with a number of different organizations and mission projects to share the love of God around the world. Below you'll find some information about a few of our favorites.

Red Cross Blood Drives

We host a fall and a spring Red Cross Blood Drive annually.  There is no greater gift than the giving the gift of life!

crop walk

Each year we participate in the Blacksburg CROP Hunger Walk which supports the overall ministry of Church World Service, especially grassroots development efforts around the world. CROP Hunger Walks help to provide food and water, as well as resources that empower people to meet their own needs

Disciples mission fund

We participate heavily in global ministries through the Disciples Mission Fund, the common fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Disciples Mission Fund supports 72 ministries of wholeness reaching around the globe.  As a Global Mission church, we understand that equipping congregations for mission includes learning from, learning with and offering support to our partners beyond the borders of the United States.  For more information, go to
